Sticky Cherry, Blue Cum

Here's something special to welcome the new year. Awkward misogynistic sex rhymes from the 5th dimension? Possibly,I could find nothing about this album on line. Apparently the only way to grip a copy was to be at one of the Seattle area Starbucks where OMP would pass these out... to the ladies.

R.I.P Rowland S. Howard

His guitar playing has been a huge inspiration to me since I was a teenager. (and still is.) The Birthday Party seriously changed my world. I still get pumped when I here those records.

i fucking HATE the beatles!

seriously, i fucking hate the beatles. at their best they were a cheap donovan rip off (at least donovan hung out and autographed a photo of his uncut baby cock.) hidden behind a fleet of corporate marketers. (does every lyric really have to include "positive identifiers", really? EVERY lyric?) at their worst they were a mediocre cover band. not to deny that some of them (not paul) had some sort of creative / inquisitive streak, but they never really explored it, only mocked and strangled it like a cheap whore that "speaka no englese". (plastic ono band's "approximately infinite universe" is one of the best pop/rock albums ever.) (harrison and starr made some good use of their free time and money as well.)
they made a hand full of mediocre pop records, and trillions of dollars. good for them. can't we all move on? i went through a phase as a youngster where i played the shit out of "abbey road". not 'cause i liked it that much, but because i was so intrigued by the way it laid out a pattern for commercial rock/pop that wouldn't falter for almost 20 years. the only track i really liked was "her majesty". it closes the whole satirical experience with a stark admittance of conceit. brief, sparse arrangement. the lyric makes a cozy metaphore for the industry in which they work/live. it's kinda charming. still haven't heard it in years. don't need/want to. i know it all too well.
just had to get that out there. thanks.
p.s.
fuck you all. john, paul, george, ringo, brian, and everyone else involved. you're the reason kids listen to shit like N'SYNC,GBV, POBPAH, at all that generic, condescending, sheltered crap. even after death you deep throat ronald mcdonald. i could be wrong (easily) but, i think you knew better. you ass fucked the corporate whore and shoved your shttty cock down everyones throat for generations. at least the germs told us that they were shitting in our mouths. you never really had that level of dignity. fuck you.

lambsbread

here's a treat for you lambsbread fans. i had totally forgotten about this shit. back in '07 shane and i had been talking about doing a lambsbread / twink bully split on teen action records. lambsbread are one of those bands that tries to record every jam, and releases almost every recording. at the time they were taking a bit of a break. zac living in detroit and travelling with james from skaters, while shane and kathy stayed on the farm. i had been trying to document most of the shows at skylab at the time so shane recommended i pull something together from my archives since there was no way to tell how long it might be until they had some new jams. i did, but it never got released for a number of reasons. but anyway, here it is. enjoy

Old School Double Shot

Since I haven't been posting much I'll try to make up for it with these two amazing compilations of old school awesomeness. About 4-5 years ago both of these jams were getting some major play in my daily life, and you know, they're both still incredible. Miami Sound is a collection of raw, sweaty soul and funk grooves from the tip of America's wang. Kraut! Demons! Kraut! is actually pretty soulful too, showcasing German psychedelic rock of the hippy era, as opposed to the wilder explorations of "Krautrock". It also includes the incredible "I'm hiding my nightingale" by Inner Space (aka Can). All around heavy shit. Enjoy!

According to this post at WFMU's Beware of the Blog Lux Interior from The Cramps passed away today. Damn. That man drank rock and pissed roll for over 30 years, changing the land scape of popular music and culture along the way. Pour some for Lux!

In his honor I give you Forbidden City Dog Food. A compilation of freaked out rock n' roll classics that the Cramps used to play at shows.

R.I.P. Ron Asheton

Apparently Ron Asheton (60) was found dead in his home this morning. I've been hearing the Stooges all day. At work, on the radio, at home. So, I wanted to mix it up a little and give you "Bored", the only album he recorded with Destroy All Monsters. His playing is so immediately recognizable and rocking that it of course sounds a bit like The Stooges, but Niagra's apathetic recitations add a charming limp to this 70s rock beast. Dig.

Bumese, brutality, and STD

Aesop over at the amazing Cosmic Hearse blog has upped the first 2 Burmese albums. Monkeys Tear Man to Shreds Man Never Forgives Ape Man Destroys Environment and A mere shadow and reminiscence of humanity. Here's the Burmese tracks from their 2004 split with Fistula on Crucial Blast. I only included the Burmese tracks so you'll have to buy the album to hear the rest.
Burmese has changed alot over the years but they are always completely fucking brutal. The first time i saw them was at Kimo's in SF, around 02. John Dwyer had just been replaced on drums by Mark Schaffer (The Darklord!), and decided to heckle them by throwing empty beer bottles. The whole place pretty much just errupted into a melee of flying glass and limbs with searing, pounding noise, until Mikey's girlfriend grabbed him and dragged him downstairs by his feet. He kept growling into the mic clenched in his teeth and abusing the bass until the cables gave. I've been to very few shows that have errupted into that sort of vortex of violence, and surprisingly nobody really got hurt. Pure catharsis. All their shows back then were pretty physical. Since then they've dropped the electronic noises and blatant Whitehouse worship, and switched to a two bassplayer, two drummer lineup. These days they tend to let the shear awesomeness of the synchronised drumming do the pummeling. They've even added a female vocalist. Still completely brutal.

Speaking of brutal, the aformentioned Darklord:
